How to sew on a button

I finally got around to sewing on the vintage buttons I purchased in New York. Well, I got one jacket completed and have another to go, but the buttons are in motion. They are not the buttons pictured above, mine are yellow..but still vintage. To photograph them would require me getting out the camera. I am now in love with vintage buttons.

While I was rooting around in my "Pins and Needles" Iris case, I came across this article that I had cut out of the newspaper many years ago. It is particularly helpful when sewing buttons on jackets. Click on the image to read the fine print.

I wish I knew what the other 11 hints in the 12 part series were. Happy sewing.
