Riding along

The trip from Myrtle Beach to Charleston is only a couple of hours drive on a grassy divided highway at reasonable speeds. There is not a lot to see but one highlight is that you get to listen to NPR radio. We really enjoyed the program featuring a notable chat with Clay Aiken, the former American Idol contestant, and a musical interlude that both surprised and delighted me. As heard on "What Do You Know".... Robbie Fulks and his cover of Michael Jackson's Billie Jean. The commentator commented at the end of the THAT'S what that song was all about....we had to agree :)

Home again

Just back from a little trip south of the border. The Professor was finished with classes and exams, so we decided to use up our Hilton Honor points before they expired. First stop Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. We had a tremendous view from the 18th. floor and a spectacular balcony on which to enjoy the sounds of the sea.

See that little hairpin shaped pool waaaaaay down there. That would be the lazy river where you back onto an inner tube and float around the course. NO I did not...something involving posting a picture on Facebook .....

If you want to see confetti on your iphone Pedometer, all you have to do is head for the ferris wheel along the beach.

One of my very favourite morning views. "The Umbrellas are out!"

Wonderful sunsets from the balcony as well. Good night Myrtle.

Driving off into the sunset and on the road to Charleston

If you only knew

Okay, so last night I watched way too much television. I couldn't help it. These Volkwagen ads kept popping up and after the couple of weeks I've had with various friends of a certain age....I was on the floor with laughter. This could be any number of people I all know who you are :) If you're not laughing, you're not there yet!

I hope the video will keep rolling and you can see the many versions of the old wives' tales. Very clever ad.

Back to work

Photo-ops completed, it's time for the class to get back to work on binding quilts.

There is always an array of freshly baked goodies involved in any proper quilting class. What can I say....just goes hand in hand with needle and thread. This time, Carolanne baked a wonderful cardamom coffee cake from the Moosewood cookbook. There were also date squares and assorted pastries. What's not to like about this class????

Now, what we all came for. The binding of the quilt class. This is Yvonne's Constellation piece demonstrating the finishing touches.

To the Out-of-Doors

Another member of the "rogue gorilla quilters" Whole Cloth group showed up with her very first ever quilt. Finished. Bound. Washed and ready for cozy reading with the littles. When the excitement subsided, our Captain Carolanne Graham seized the moment and quickly grabbed duct tape, the quilt, and headed out back to create a photo op. Her entourage traipsing behind ~ soon there was a true quilting moment.

This is what it's all about. Erica and her little darlings. Her first quilt. So memorable. So glad I was there for that moment.
